MetroFibre's residential range spans eight tiers from a 30/30 Mbps entry line to a 1000/500 Mbps top tier - the widest spread of any Webafrica network on this site. Every tier bar the fastest is fully symmetrical.

Every MetroFibre tier's advertised price is a 2-month promotional rate. From month 3, billing reverts to a standard price roughly R100/month higher (R150 on the two fastest tiers) - a detail easy to miss if you only look at the strike-through sticker price and multiply it by 12.

Take the 30/30 Mbps entry tier: R429/month for the first two months, then R529/month from month 3 - a real first-year total of R6 148, not the R5 148 a naive "promo price × 12" calculation would suggest. Stepping up to 100/100 Mbps costs R10 468 across the same first year - R4 320 more - for well over 3x the speed in both directions.

Price-per-Mbps above uses the standard month-3-onward rate, not the promo rate, because that's what the line actually costs for ten of its first twelve months - and for every month after that. On that basis the entry 30/30 tier is the single worst value per Mbps in the whole range; value improves steadily up the ladder and is best at 500/500 Mbps, just before the asymmetric 1000/500 top tier's upload trade-off pulls it back down.

MetroFibre isn't Webafrica's only symmetrical network - Vumatel, Openserve, Octotel, Frogfoot and Link Layer all sell symmetrical tiers too. Here's how MetroFibre's 30/30 and 100/100 promo prices stack up against every other symmetrical Webafrica package at the same speed, cheapest first.

At 30/30 Mbps, Vumatel is Webafrica's cheapest symmetrical option on a promo basis at R419/month. At 100/100 Mbps, Vumatel leads at R879/month. This comparison uses every network's own promotional price, so it's an apples-to-apples read of month-one billing only - MetroFibre's own promo-to-standard jump above means the gap to a network with a longer or no promotional period can look different again from month 3 onward. Where MetroFibre reaches an address a cheaper network doesn't, it remains the only real option regardless of where it ranks on this table.

MetroFibre Nexus and Nova are both residential FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) products running on the same open-access physical network, not a home-vs-business split - Nexus is MetroFibre's original build, Nova a newer, overlapping rollout reaching suburbs that got fibre more recently. Pricing and speed tiers are effectively identical between the two, which is why this page and its live deal pool track Nexus as the representative product.

Because MetroFibre is open access, Webafrica is one of several ISPs competing to sell service over the same fibre - MetroFibre isn't sold exclusively through any single retailer. That structure is the direct opposite of a closed-access network like Herotel, where the network builder is also the only ISP. On MetroFibre, if Webafrica's price, promo terms or support don't work out, switching to a different reseller on the same network doesn't require a re-install - only a new order on the existing line.

MetroFibre's real strength on Webafrica is the top half of the range - from 100/100 Mbps up, price-per-Mbps improves fast and the network's reach across Gauteng, Cape Town and Durban metros is genuinely strong. Anyone shopping mainly on the entry-level 30/30 or 40/40 tiers should compare against the market-comparison tables above first: MetroFibre's own promo-to-standard jump often erodes its entry-tier advantage once month 3 arrives, and a rival network's cheaper full-price line can end up ahead over a full year even if MetroFibre looked cheaper on day one.

Households that know they'll want more than 100 Mbps, or that run multiple remote workers, smart-home devices or heavy uploads (MetroFibre's symmetry helps here more than an asymmetric rival), get the strongest case for choosing MetroFibre specifically rather than picking whichever network happens to be cheapest this month.
