The cheapest live entry point across every product line is Openserve Web Connect 10/5 Mbps Uncapped at R315/month; run the numbers per Mbps instead and Octotel 2500/2500 Mbps Uncapped at R0.80/Mbps is the better buy for anyone who can stretch to the higher sticker price.

RSAweb runs the same standard-fibre product across 12 FNOs, and the entry price differs a lot depending on which one is lit at your address. This is every network RSAweb resells in its standard catalogue, ranked by the cheapest live tier on each.

The gap is structural, not RSAweb pricing some networks unfairly, entry-level Openserve Web Connect and Evotel Pulse are aerial/entry products built to undercut the core fibre tiers on the same network, while Vumatel and Octotel's cheapest symmetrical tiers sit closer to the market's mid-range. Worked example: two neighbours on the same Openserve line both order the 100/100 Mbps tier, one through RSAweb at R995/month, the other through MWeb at R879/month. Over 24 months that's a R2 784 difference for an identical line, before RSAweb's bundled mesh node is worth anything to the household that doesn't need it.

That mesh node is the actual case for RSAweb over a straight price comparison: a second Wi-Fi 6 access point retails for a few hundred rand on its own, so a household that would otherwise buy one anyway is paying part of that R2 784 back in hardware it would have bought regardless. RSAweb's standard fibre billing is month-to-month, but the signup flow lets you choose a 1, 12 or 24-month initial term, only the 1-month term is genuinely cancel-anytime. Choose a 12 or 24-month term and cancelling early requires at least 20 business days' written notice before the term expires, cancelling outside a term (including the 1-month option) needs one calendar month's notice. The router itself stays RSAweb property for the life of the service and must be returned within 10 days of cancellation, or its retail value is charged.

The setup fee follows the same logic: RSAweb charges a flat processing fee or the actual FNO installation cost, whichever is greater, even though free installation is promoted on many packages. Confirm both the term length and the install fee at checkout rather than assuming the cheapest-looking option applies by default.

Who should look elsewhere: anyone whose only goal is the lowest possible monthly bill on Openserve should compare MWeb and Webafrica first, RSAweb is not price-competitive there.
