    About Frogfoot Networks

19 years of open-access fibre infrastructure

Frogfoot Networks has been operating in the South African telecoms space for more than 19 years, making it one of the most experienced fibre network operators (FNOs) in the country. Headquartered in Cape Town, Frogfoot owns and runs an open-access fibre infrastructure that spans all nine provinces - from Cape Town and Stellenbosch through to Johannesburg, Durban, Polokwane and Nelspruit.

Like Openserve and Vumatel, Frogfoot does not sell internet directly to the public. Instead, the company builds and maintains the underlying fibre - the trenches, ducts, splice cabinets and Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) - and leases that capacity to a wide ecosystem of retail ISPs. That open-access model means residents can pick from dozens of competing ISPs at the same address.

"Froggin' Awesome" fibre at affordable prices

Frogfoot has built its reputation on aggressive pricing and an irreverent, friendly brand. Many entry-level Frogfoot deals start at R19 for the first month, and the network is consistently among the cheapest options for symmetrical 100/100, 250/250 and even 1 Gbps packages in the country.

Beyond standard FTTH, Frogfoot also runs FTTB (Fibre to the Business) and Frogfoot Air, a Wi-Fi-only entry product designed to bring fibre-grade reliability to households that don't yet need a full ONT install. The result is a layered offering that scales from a R549 entry plan all the way up to gigabit symmetrical at R1 219.

Whether you need a high-end symmetrical line for work or a budget-friendly Wi-Fi-only setup, Frogfoot has a product tier for you.

    Frogfoot FTTH

    Fibre to the Home

Frogfoot's flagship residential product brings fibre optic cable directly into your house, replacing copper ADSL with a connection that's typically 10x faster. FTTH supports symmetrical and asymmetrical packages, crystal-clear VoIP, multi-stream 4K and live HD entertainment without buffering. It's the foundation product for everyone from singles in a flat to families with a houseful of devices.

    • Up to 10x faster than ADSL
    • Symmetrical packages up to 1 Gbps
    • Free standard installation on most ISPs
    • VoIP-ready for cheap calls

    Frogfoot FTTB

    Fibre to the Business

Frogfoot's business product (sometimes branded "Froggin' Awesome") delivers fibre to commercial premises at prices often comparable to - or below - a standard ADSL line. FTTB is built for the realities of running a business: faster speeds, business-grade reliability, support for VoIP at scale, cloud sync, off-site backups and CCTV that never drops a frame.

    • Pricing competitive with ADSL
    • Business-grade reliability and uptime
    • VoIP for cheaper local & international calls
    • Stable connection for cloud and CCTV

    Frogfoot Air

    Wi-Fi-only entry product

Frogfoot Air is the affordable entry-level product, available in select FTTH coverage areas. It runs over the existing Frogfoot network and delivers download speeds of 10/1 Mbps or 20/2 Mbps over a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal - no additional ISP router required. Standard fibre access is built into your home, so upgrading to a full FTTH plan later is simple.

    • Entry-level 10/1 or 20/2 Mbps
    • No extra router required
    • Built-in upgrade path to full FTTH
    • Perfect for browsing and social media

    How to Order Frogfoot Fibre

Going from "interested" to "browsing at full speed" usually takes between 7 and 21 days on Frogfoot. Here's exactly what happens behind the scenes.

    1. STEP 1

      Place your order

Place an order through your preferred Internet Service Provider - directly with the ISP or via Frogfoot's own website. The ISP confirms your customer details, validates the address and pushes the request to Frogfoot's provisioning team.

    2. STEP 2

      Order acceptance

Frogfoot accepts the order and confirms whether your zone is already lit. If it is, you'll be slotted into the next installation cycle. If your area is still being built, you'll be added to a waiting list and notified as soon as the zone goes live.

    3. STEP 3

      Installation appointment

An installation team contacts you to schedule a convenient appointment - typically a 2–4 hour window. The technician runs a fibre strand from the kerb or pole into your home, drills a discreet entry point, and installs the necessary equipment, including the ONT and any required components.

    4. STEP 4

      Router & activation

Your ISP ships a Wi-Fi router (free on most contracts) pre-configured with your account credentials. Plug it into the ONT, switch it on, and within minutes you're live with uncapped, unshaped Frogfoot fibre at the speed you ordered.

    Frogfoot FAQ

Yes - Frogfoot has been a fixture of South African telecoms for over 19 years and is consistently rated alongside Openserve and Vumatel as one of the country's top open-access fibre operators. The network is particularly strong in the Western Cape, where it has a deep footprint, and is well-known for aggressive symmetrical pricing.

Frogfoot is one of the cheapest networks in South Africa. Entry plans start at R549/month for 40/10 Mbps, with most ISPs running an R19 first-month promo. Symmetrical 100/100 starts at R699 and gigabit symmetrical (1000/1000) tops out around R1 219/month.

Frogfoot covers all nine provinces. The deepest footprint is in the Western Cape (Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Somerset West, Strand, Gordons Bay, Franschhoek, the Garden Route) but the network also reaches Johannesburg, Pretoria, Sandton, Durban, Umhlanga, Polokwane, Nelspruit, Bloemfontein, Kimberley, Rustenburg and many other cities and towns.

On 12 or 24-month contracts, almost every ISP includes free standard installation, a free Wi-Fi router and free activation. Month-to-month plans may charge a once-off setup fee. Non-standard installs (long cable runs, aerial work, multiple drilling points) may incur extras - your technician will quote before starting.

Once you've placed your order and the ISP has confirmed your details, installation typically happens within 7 to 21 days. If your zone isn't yet live, you'll be added to a waiting list and notified once it is.

Yes. The fibre infrastructure belongs to Frogfoot, not your ISP. You can move from Webafrica to Afrihost to RSAWeb without a new installation, without a new ONT, and (in most cases) without a new router. The receiving ISP usually manages the porting end-to-end.

Frogfoot Air is an affordable Wi-Fi-only entry product, available in selected FTTH coverage areas. It delivers 10/1 Mbps or 20/2 Mbps over the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band with no extra router required. Standard fibre access is built into your home, so upgrading to a full FTTH plan later is straightforward.

FTTH (Fibre to the Home) is for residential customers and emphasises affordable entry pricing, symmetrical options and bundled VoIP. FTTB (Fibre to the Business) is built for commercial premises with higher reliability targets, business-grade SLAs and pricing often competitive with traditional ADSL business lines.

The fibre line itself stays live during power outages because Frogfoot's exchanges and active equipment run on backup batteries and generators. To stay online at home you need backup power for the ONT and your Wi-Fi router. A small inverter or UPS rated 600 VA upwards will keep both running for 4 to 8 hours.

Yes. Every Frogfoot residential package sold through major ISPs is uncapped and unshaped - no fair-use policy throttling, no peak-time slow-downs and no surprise data caps. You pay a flat monthly fee and use the line as much as you like.
