    Speed guide

    What speed do you need

The right speed depends on resolution, the number of simultaneous streams, and other devices on the network.

    SD streaming · 3 Mbps

Standard Definition on phones and tablets. Almost any fibre line will handle this on a single device.

    HD streaming · 5 Mbps

720p HD on laptops and TVs. A 10-20 Mbps line gives you headroom for 2-3 simultaneous streams.

    Full HD · 5-8 Mbps

1080p on Netflix Standard or Premium. Aim for 20-50 Mbps for multi-device households.

    4K UHD · 15-25 Mbps

Ultra HD streaming per device. For multi-TV 4K homes, 100 Mbps+ is the safe target.

    Netflix

    Netflix speed tiers

    HD 720p · 3 Mbps

Recommended download speed for Netflix HD 720p.

    Full HD 1080p · 5 Mbps

Recommended for Netflix Standard or Premium plans.

    4K UHD · 15 Mbps

Recommended for 4K UHD streaming on Netflix Premium.

Netflix recommends checking your connection from inside the app: from the Home screen, choose Get Help → Check your Network. The app verifies internet reachability and runs a quick speed test against Netflix's CDN. If your speed is below expectation, check Wi-Fi placement first, then your ISP.

    FAQ

    Streaming questions

3 Mbps for HD 720p, 5 Mbps for Full HD 1080p, 15 Mbps for 4K UHD. Multiply by the number of simultaneous 4K streams in your home.

Usually the bottleneck is Wi-Fi, not your fibre line. Run a speed test from a wired device - if it matches your plan, look at router placement, channel congestion or the 5 GHz band.

Massively. Fibre is faster, more stable and has near-zero packet loss. ADSL struggles with 4K and falls over on multi-device households.

4K HDR adds about 25% to the bandwidth requirement. A 25-35 Mbps margin per stream keeps things buttery.

Comfortably 5-10 connected devices with a mix of 4K and HD streams. For 10+ devices or multiple 4K TVs, jump to 100 Mbps.

    Stream in 4K without buffering

Pair a 50-100 Mbps fibre line with a top-3 streaming ISP. Compare live deals above.
