What is Afrihost on Mitsol?
Mitsol is a smaller open-access fibre operator with infrastructure in selected residential pockets - typically estates and suburb extensions where Mitsol won the build contract. Afrihost on Mitsol is the standard wholesale-and-ISP split: Afrihost is the brand on your bill and the team that picks up your support call, Mitsol is the operator that owns and maintains the cable.
Mitsol's smaller catchment usually means less local congestion and faster fault response. Afrihost layers their no-contract, uncapped, free-router offer on top, with the same R5 000 setup credit available on new installs that you'd get on Openserve or Vumatel.
A comparison of Mitsol deals

Mitsol coverage is hyper-specific - confirm with the Afrihost coverage tool before choosing a tier. There's rarely an alternative FNO at the same address, so the comparison is between ISPs on Mitsol rather than between networks.

A once-off installation or activation charge is paid once, so it weighs on year one and not on year two. Where a line wins on the advertised rate but loses over twelve months, check how long you expect to keep it, and compare on effective monthly cost rather than on the headline. Next: every ISP's 20 Mbps deals.

The honest verdict
Where this page is the right answer, and where it is not. Both sides are computed from the 14 packages we track here, so they move when the prices do.
Afrihost on Mitsol is the right buy if…
- Your address shows Mitsol coverageCoverage decides this before price does. We track 14 verified Afrihost packages on Mitsol, from R587/mo for 20/20 Mbps Uncapped up to 1000 Mbps.
- You want the cheapest seller on this networkNo ISP we track undercuts R587 on Mitsol at 20/20 Mbps Uncapped, so the entry line here is the market floor rather than a mid-table price.
- You upload as much as you download7 of the 14 lines here are symmetrical, which matters for video calls, cloud backups and streaming out rather than in.
Who should look elsewhere
- Your address does not show MitsolThen none of the 14 prices above can help you, and comparing them is wasted effort. Coverage is decided by which network reached your street, not by which ISP you prefer - check the address first, then come back to price.
- You are buying on value per megabit, not on monthly priceThe cheapest line here is not the best value: 20/20 Mbps Uncapped works out at R29.35/Mbps against R1.40/Mbps for 1000/500 Mbps Uncapped - 21.0x the price per megabit. If a bigger line fits the budget, it buys far more per rand.
